Under the general direction of the supervisor, the incumbent coordinates the education and QI program for the departments, takes a lead role in all lab accreditations activities and performs the duties of a diagnostic ultrasound technologist as described in the Acute Care Ultrasound Technologist position description. In addition, the incumbent will assist the supervisor and manager in the ongoing revision and implementation of departmental policies and procedures, and provide orientation to new personnel.
Nature and Scope
This position is challenged to update and implement the orientation program for new department personnel, maintain department quality improvement program in conformance with JCAHO standards in addition to revising and rewriting care standards. This position will also work at least 50% in the ultrasound department performing and maintaining skills in the complete product line and will be responsible for performance criteria outlined in that job description.
This position has the authority to schedule education and QI programs for all areas of the department. The incumbent will be responsible for all related education for Diagnostic Ultrasound and insuring QI and JCAHO/Accreditation requirements are met for the department(s). Decisions that must be referred to the supervisor or manager are those pertaining to personnel, supplies, and equipment acquisition.
The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the newborn through geriatric age groups and meets standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age specific competency standards.

Requirements – Required and/or Preferred
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Associate Degree in ultrasound technology or equivalent education and experience required.
Three (3) years recent ultrasound experience in respective departmental modality required.
Registry in cardiac and vascular ultrasound technology required by CCI or ARDMS (For Department Codes 200267, 200268, and 400267, 400268
ARDMS Registry in Abdomen and OB/GYN required, RVT registry preferred (For Department Code 900259.
Active registry status must be maintained throughout employment.
American Heart Association BLS certification is required within 90 days of employment.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
