This group is for all patients facing cancer. The meeting enables participants to share experiences and express feelings and concerns. All cancer patients, family members, survivors, and caregivers are welcome to attend. Meets weekly on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in person and virtually. Designed for busy parents, this all-in-one-day Childbirth Education Course will help prepare mom and her partner for the many aspects of childbirth. You’ll learn the many facets of delivery, with the opportunity to ask questions helping you make informed decisions about critical issues surrounding your baby’s birth. Some topics include: Healthy developments in your pregnancy Stages of labor Warning signs Breathing and relaxation techniques Comfort measures Role of the support person and labor support Birth planning How to tell when you are in labor Pain relief options during labor/medical procedures How a birth doula can help Cesarean birth and Postpartum All of our instructors are certified educators who will offer you support and guidance through education in a unique way to meet your individual needs. We believe that childbirth is a process, not a method, and we recognize that there is no one right way to give birth. * Note: This class will not include a Baby and Family Suites Tour. Class fee includes partner. The Spinning Babies Parent Class is designed for expecting moms after the 20th week of pregnancy. This class highlights rotating the baby down and out of the pelvis. Turning (spinning) is referred to as fetal rotation and descent. During labor, the baby must rotate and descend through the three levels of the pelvis to be born. Without this movement on the baby’s part, vaginal birth is not possible. Spinning Babies Parent Class provides: Four hours of instruction and practical application Essential daily activities to give you greater ease in pregnancy and help give baby space to move and settle into the correct birth position. Balance techniques to prepare and maintain your body in a balanced, supple, and flexible condition for birth. Birth positions specific to the three levels of the pelvis as solutions when labor doesn’t move forward in a typical pattern. The day of class requirements- Support person required (significant other, friend, mom etc.) Wear comfortable clothing. Bring a large exercise ball (65-75cm), two pillows (bed pillows okay), and a large towel or yoga mat. Renown Institute for Cancer is teaming up with Cancer Treatment Expert Renie Anderson, who is trained and certified at managing cancer treatment side effects. You can attend this workshop in person at Renown Regional or virtually via Zoom. This workshop teaches mind-body techniques to help reduce anxiety, feel calmer, visualize your treatment in a healing way and enhance healing through activities that will bring you relief. This workshop includes: Helping patients feel more connected, reducing fight/flight response and assisting patients to feel more at ease. Learning how stress impacts our bodies and our role in taking responsibility as a partner in recovery. A mindfulness relaxation session. Allowing patients to express concerns over their side effects and re-framing for a more positive experience. Open time for questions and answers. There is no charge to attend this class. Attend this workshop in person at Renown Regional or virtually via Zoom to learn mind-body techniques to help reduce stress and fears while caring for your loved one going through treatment. There is relief in knowing you are not alone. This workshop includes: Identifying and talking about fears, resistance and frustrations. Creating end results to help them re-frame the discussion. Learning tools to help identify needs and wants; being able to ask for them so you can refuel and become more available to yourself and your loved ones for the long haul. Renown Institute for Cancer offers one-hour weekly classes to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families. These insightful classes are facilitated by oncology nurse navigators, social workers and surgical nurses. In this class, you will: • Meet your navigator and learn about cancer support services available to you • Hear about pre-surgery instructions and your pre-admit appointment • Receive education in rehabilitation and lymphedema • Have your questions answered about treatment, including chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy and clinical trials Video-enabled attendance is available.
