Professional Development Opportunities for Nurses

Every day, Renown Health nurses demonstrate a commitment to their patients and communities. They plan and implement care and make critical decisions, all while offering compassion and empathy to our patients. Recognizing that nurses are one of our greatest assets, we understand the importance of investing in their careers.

At Renown, nurses truly have a voice in patient care and the practice of medicine. Renown’s interdisciplinary, shared governance model empowers nurses to advocate for their patients and their unit. Our Chief Nursing Officers are accessible to our frontline staff and provide the support and resources to bring their ideas to fruition.

Renown Health has several programs that help nurses pursue their professional interests and gain the most value from their career. Our Professional Advancement for Clinical Excellence (PACE) Program pays a bonus to registered nurses in acute and transitional care positions who enhance their skills through education, specialty certifications, projects and mentoring. Participants are also incentivized to pursue leadership opportunities, whether serving as a unit-based Quality Champion or joining their unit’s shared governance committee. We know that PACE participants will share their knowledge and experiences with their peers, helping to strengthen our team.

Renown Health also provides financial support to employees who are working to further their education and pursue professional certifications. We are proud to stand in the 8% of organizations who offer student loan repayment to employees.

Our support also extends to nurses who are just beginning their careers. Our Nurse Residency Program allows second-year nursing students to shadow nurses across multiple departments and care settings, helping them determine which area of medicine best matches with their skills and interests. Our Graduate Nurse Residency program – the largest program of its kind in Nevada – allows recent graduates to apply for further training in Maternal-Child, Medical-Surgical or Telemetry. The program also offers peer support and mentorship, helping new nurses navigate the stress and challenges during their first year on the job.
