Infusion Services Wins Patient Safety Story Contest
Bacon, eggs, coffee and more added a special start to the day for the Infusion Services team April 26 as they were recognized by the Quality department for the winning patient safety story contest last month.
“This is a recognition of work that occurs every day in Infusion to keep patients safe and produce good outcomes for patients as well,” said Jen Richards, Vice President of Quality. “I’m so excited to have this team win.”
Manager of Infusion Services, Brandi Griggs, submitted her team who goes above and beyond every day to check and double check medication orders for their patients.
“The work that the team of infusion nurses and pharmacists do every day is absolutely amazing, and I am so proud to be one of their leaders,” says Griggs. “Many times the staff feel as though they are catching the same mistakes over and over again and not seeing a change in practice, but ultimately they are making a difference in the lives of their patients.”
The panel of judges from the Quality department also selected three runner-up submissions from:
- Heather Townsend, Pharmacy Clinical Specialist
- Jennifer Allen, Manager of Nursing in the Emergency Department
- Liza Warner, Human Resources Information Systems Analyst
May is National Stroke Month: What Does Renown Do for Stroke Patients?
When it comes to treating stroke, minutes matter and many people think of stroke care as treating someone while in the emergency room. But we offer much more beyond caring for patients in their first hour of showing signs of a stroke. The average stroke patient at Renown can receive care from employees across 25 or more departments.
Patients can receive follow-up care from Renown employees in Cardiology, Respiratory Care, Institute for Neurosciences, Occupational and Physical Therapy, Behavioral Health, Renown Rehabilitation Hospital, Nutrition Services and more to guide them through their recovery every step of the way. In recognition of Stroke Month, we invite you to learn about the variety of care we offer our stroke patients.
